Problem: Reading the news lately? You’re bound to find new political vocabulary appearing all the time. People want to stay informed, and fluent with these terms. Today’s users need an informative and approachable app that teaches them vocabulary as they read it in context.
Solution: POLCAB is an app guiding readers through political vocabulary using real news clippings. Flashcards get created for new terms, then users can save them, and quiz themselves later. Through reading and gaming, the user builds a better understanding of political terms, and their daily news.
Research Process
Target users were interviewed for learning strategies.
User behaviors and feedback was recorded throughout testing via webcam and notation.
An ideal user was then synthesized from this data.
Information Architecture
Flows were sketched across 8 initial screens.
Testing was then conducted with these low-fi sketches, and data informed early wireframes.
Here’s a video of the research process, and the results.
